  as people get older they inevitably lose more of their friends and family.

  the doctrine that binds them to the truth like superglue is the doctrine of the resurrection.

  It gets worse. The resurrected don't marry, so if your spouse dies before Armageddon then Jehovah finally drags his butt out of the privey the next day, your ex spouse now gets resurrected with a perfect body and you can't even go for a quiet snog behind the bike shed without incurring Jehovah's wrath. The object of your desire is going to spend eternity celibate.

  12-year-old thread: JWS/WTS REACHES CRITICAL MASS - A NON-EVENT!

  a few days ago, there was renewed interest in a 12-year-old thread which, among other points, argued the watchtower's days were numbered.

  several current posters expressed the view that the wts has not been impacted by any "critical mass" and that it speaks to the immunity of the watchtower to any such "critical mass" event.

  i thought the topic warranted a renewal for wider consideration - with the "benefit" of "12-years" hindsight - so have duplicated one of my responses: .

  The only way the bOrg will die quickly is if most leavers wake up that they have to push their families out of the church while they are still perceived to be true believers, instead of IDing themselves as the WT's dreaded APOSTATES, or trying to take the easy way out via 'fading'.

  and was so poorly written that within a couple of years the Watchtower was printing and sending out pages of text that were to be cut up and pasted over the discredited passages of text.

  I doubt that is correct. If you want to make an impression on a JW you have to be honest and accurate in every detail as any mistake will be used against you.

  I am aware of a patch up job that resembles this accusation, but that is nearly two decades later, in 2006, and that is not a "couple of years".

  remember a while back when the wtbts wanted more money to bring home missionaries?

  i have been looking for that thread to no avail.

  anyway, each and every kh that adopted that resolution is contributing a good deal of money to the wtbt$ based on the amount of publishers.

  I've been flown to International DCs by the bOrg decades ago when flights were relatively expensive. There was no extra-special-begging to pay for it, so I assume they just did it out of the same petty cash tin they used for the other Kneed in the Groin Graters.

  The Proselytising Fund tin is empty and Candace wants her pound of flesh, so modern-day JDubs just have to man up and pay her.

  i have to say i am surprised and am quite saddened to hear how many jdub marriages fall apart when one partner becomes an "unbelieving mate" or even an "apostate.

  " i thought i might post my thoughts on my thinking process during the time my hubby, bethelyellowdollarbag, in my jdub thinking moved along the path from an "unbelieving mate" to an "apostate" over the course of 30 years before i finally woke up to ttatt.

  Welcome to the forum, apocryphal.

  As long as you can maintain Personality A, you can ask questions of your family. Note: Ask questions .... not state opinions, esp. contrary ones. Only ever ask questions that affect them, but portray them as questions that you need an answer to. Remember every warning sign the WT gave you and your family to identify apostates, and don't cross the line. You are the troooo believer, you just want help understanding this .........?

  If you want any chance of maintaining some kind of half decent relationship with your family, consider being the last one 'out'.
